Hygge Holiday Playlist

Hygge Holiday Playlist

We all know the Christmas holiday classics—”All I Want For Christmas Is You”, “Here Comes Santa Claus”, “Jingle Bell Rock”. They’re classics for a reason and they are here to stay.

But when you’re cozying up to a fire with a hot chocolate and some gingerbread cookies, there are times that “Rudolph the Red Noses Reindeer” can be a bit, well, jarring.

It’s not Christmas heresy to admit it.

It’s for that very reason that we’ve put together a playlist of our favorite relaxing holiday songs (some old and some new) for the quieter, hygge moments you’ll want to have this December.

If you’re not already aware, indie darling Sufjan Stevens has made quite a few Christmas albums. They’re worth checking out if you’re a fan of the “Chicago” singer.

Many artists have also made unique covers of Christmas classics which we’ve included. She & Him have recreated “Let It Snow”, Wolf Alice recorded “Santa Baby” at Strongroom Studios, and The Civil Wars have their own version of “I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day”.

Just as many artists have written their own songs for the holidays. Sia’s “Underneath The Christmas Lights”, Blizten Trapper’s “Christmas Is Coming Soon”, Jack Johnson’s “In the Morning” made the playlist cut.

And did we mention Sam Smith is covering Joni Mitchell!?

So light some candles, warm some mulled wine and hit play. We hope you enjoy.
